Audi is discontinuing the A4 model and replacing it with the new A5 hatchback, which the brand is calling a sedan, and the more powerful S5.

This move is part of a consolidation of the A4/S4 and A5/S5 lines, with the A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback being the first models to use the new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC). Although the coupe and convertible versions are no longer available, the new lineup promises significant improvements in size, interior space, and technology.

The new A5 and S5 are larger than their predecessors and offer powerful engines, with options of a 2.0 turbo four-cylinder and a V-6 biturbo, both paired with mild hybrid systems.

Inside, the highlight is the Digital Stage dashboard, which includes a curved screen with two large displays, offering an intuitive interface for vehicle controls, navigation, and entertainment. The American models come standard with all-wheel drive, and the exterior design maintains recognizable elements with modern adjustments.

Despite the changes, Audi will not bring the Avant wagon version to the United States, opting to focus on the hatchback versions of the A5 and S5. Audi’s new E3 1.2 electric architecture is integrated into these models, enhancing safety and functionality.

The decision to combine the A4 sedan and the A5 Sportback into a single car reflects the decline in sedan sales and aims to optimize the brand’s product lineup.
