MARKS AND SPENCER’S ‘STYLISH’ AND ‘CONVENIENT’ CAR COAT IS PERFECT FOR RAINY WEATHER OFFICE WEAR

As we step into autumn, there’s one thing we’re all dreading – the rainy weather. Keeping dry whilst still looking stylish and chic isn’t always the easiest, especially when it’s not quite cold enough for an oversized parka or a padded raincoat.

But Marks and Spencer’s new Cotton Rich Stormwear Car Coat , £65, manages to check off all the boxes when it comes to both practicality and style, with shoppers raving about how handy it’s been for keeping them dry during unexpected showers. Other have even compared it favourably to Burberry’s iconic Camden Heritage Car Coat , which retails for an eye-watering £1590, saying: “Looks like a Burberry car coat without the price.”

The Car Coat is made from Marks and Spencer’s water-repellant Stormwear technology, which helps keep you warm and dry when faced with the drizzly British weather. Although it may not withstand a torrential downpour, it’ll definitely keep you dry from showers and light rainstorms.

It’s also designed to help keep you warm when the temperature dips without being too bulky or heavyweight, making it ideal for the ever-changing and unpredictable autumn weather. It even has both side pockets and a hidden internal pocket to keep your belongings safe and dry.

As well as being outrageously practical, the M&S Car Coat is also chic enough to be worn everywhere from the office to a night out thanks to its button-up style and raglan sleeves, which give it a relaxed feel whilst still looking smart and classy. You can snap up the coat in both navy and buff, a light off-white shade.

Shoppers have been singing its praises, with one saying: “Love this shower-resistant coat. Quality material, classic style.” Another wrote: “Convenient coat to keep in car for whenever a coat/mac is needed. Well made, good fit and smart look. Also a good price.”

A third added: “I've yet to test the waterproofing of this coat but I love the look of it. Perfect for dashing to work and much more stylish than an anorak. Also, being petite, I find that traditional double breasted mac coats just drown me. This fits really well.”

Whilst a fourth chimed in: “Fantastic coat which I have in navy and natural. A little on the big sizing wise so I have size 8 and 10. Went to a local show in the navy yesterday and had lots of comments about it and how waterproof it was in the showers. Absolutely love it. Non fussy but classy style.”

Several reviews did suggest it was a very oversized, roomy fit and recommended sizing down by one or two sizes if you prefer a more fitted silhouette. If you prefer a more classic trench-style design, Hobbs’ Vivienne Shower Resistant Trench , £199, has a sleek, stylish fit and classic design details whilst still being showerproof for those annoying autumn showers.
