NEW A30 DUAL CARRIAGEWAY TO OPEN AFTER UPGRADE
Part of the A30 in Cornwall is set to fully reopen on Monday as a £330m upgrade nears its conclusion.
National Highways said the road would be shut between Chiverton Cross and Carland Cross from 20:00 BST on Friday until 06:00 on Monday.
The organisation said it was planning to open all junctions and lanes of the A30 by Monday morning.
Construction work for the dual carriageway upgrade project began in 2020.
However, National Highways said there was still work to do on local roads and infrastructure to fully complete the project, meaning more roads would be closed in the next few weeks.
Between Friday and Monday, National Highways said local access at Chiverton and via the B3284 at Chybucca would be maintained during the closure.
It added the link from the A39 to the north via the B3285 would also be maintained.
Drivers looking to use the A30 during the weekend closure have been told by National Highways to plan ahead and expect to be delayed.
National Highways said in order to complete the work before the school summer holidays, it would be implementing some local road closures until 12 July.
The organisation said from 09:00 on Monday, the B3277 link road from Chiverton junction to the services roundabout would be closed.
It added motorists travelling from the A30 to St Agnes would be diverted along the A30 to Scorrier then through Blackwater before re-joining the B3277 at the services roundabout.
Traffic travelling the other way will be diverted the opposite way along the same route, National Highways said.
In February, the project - which was due to be completed in March 2024 - had its end date pushed back three months by National Highways.
It said the reason for the delay was due to "significant challenges" the project had faced around bad weather and construction issues.
