LEWIS HAMILTON BANKED MASSIVE PROFIT AFTER SELLING OFF LUXURY HOME FOR £38MILLION

Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton made a tidy profit of £38million in 2021 when he sold a New York penthouse he had purchased just four years earlier. The former Mercedes driver, who is now racing for Ferrari, won his first world title at the age of 23 in a McLaren car nearly two decades ago and has been addicted to winning ever since.

After joining the Silver Arrows, he added six more titles to his name, along with a substantial increase in his wealth. In 2017, Hamilton splashed out nearly £34m on the aforementioned penthouse. A few years later, the apartment, complete with a plunge pool, was back on the market. The British driver's property reportedly sold for £38m, netting him a potential profit of around £4m. It is estimated he now earns a £67m salary through his current stint with Scuderia.

The luxurious 8,900-square-foot triplex featured five bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a 3,400-square-foot private outdoor space. Other highlights included a private internal elevator, a personal library, and a chef's kitchen.

The identity of the buyer, who snapped up the listing that initially opened at a price of £44m in February 2019 - two years before the sale was finalised - was not disclosed. Broker Nick Gavin represented Hamilton and his property, which, according to the New York Post, he never lived in and came with two coveted parking spaces.

Said penthouse was just one of many properties in Hamilton's impressive real estate collection. The 40-year-old F1 superstar expanded his portfolio by snapping up a Vestry Street penthouse with stunning Hudson River views for a cool £31m, the same year he put his Tribeca property on the market.

Hamilton's residences span across the globe, including homes in his native UK, Monaco, Switzerland, and Italy. He reportedly spends a significant amount of time in a luxurious £11.8m mansion located in Monte Carlo's Fontvieille district during and following the Formula 1 season.

Additionally, the Ferrari champion boasts ownership of a Kensington house in London, which was once the residence of Burberry designer Christopher Bailey, reportedly valued at £18.2m. His extensive property collection also features a ranch in Colorado, a Lake Geneva retreat, and a plush apartment in Milan.

However, Hamilton confesses that pinpointing where 'home' truly is has become a complex matter.

"I've never really been home [before]," Hamilton revealed. "In my winter, I go to the mountains [in Colorado], which I really see as my main home, because it's a house and it's full of love and memories from people, the family that come every winter.

"Where I live in Monaco, it's been somewhere I go back to, and I'd call home, but it lacks those memories. I'd be there for short periods of time. So it's not been the easiest."
