CRASH CLOSES HAYWARDS HILL ROAD IN WELLINGTON

A major Wellington highway has been closed by a serious crash involving a motorbike.

Police were notified of the collision on State Highway 58, known as the Haywards Road, between a car and motorbike about 4:40pm on Sunday, a spokesperson said. The road links the Hutt Valley with Porirua.

"Two people were riding the motorcycle at the time and both have received serious injuries," they said.

The highway has since reopened, NZTA said this evening.
