RED BEACH RD CRASH: TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION BLOCKS ROAD, DELAYS EXPECTED

A two-car crash has blocked a key road in Auckland’s Red Beach this evening and one person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The crash on Red Beach Rd was reported to emergency services about 4pm, a police spokesman said.

Diversions were put in place at Bay St and Whangaparāoa Rd.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area and expect delays.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they attended a job on Red Beach Rd around 4pm.

“We sent two ambulances, one rapid response, and one manager.

“We transported one patient in a serious condition to Auckland [City] Hospital.”

One person on a local residents’ Facebook page described the crash as a “mass incident” with fire engines, ambulances, and police cars on the scene.
