'THE MOST BRITISH BBQ': MAN USES BIKE WHEEL TO KEEP BEER CANS COOL

A British man has captured the internet's attention by demonstrating that professional equipment isn't necessary for a great barbecue.

Utilising filing cabinets to cook food and bicycle wheels to keep drinks cool, the unnamed man's innovation left guests both amazed and their bellies full.

In a video posted to social media, a crowd of guests can be seen enjoying the delights of the unique barbeque, which was hosted in the back garden of a UK home.

Uploaded by Instagram account @itsallmaad on May 13, the clip includes a caption that reads: 'This has to be the most British BBQ to ever happen. This is some top tier engineering.'

Footage shows guests enjoying the creative set up, with one guest sipping a beer while watching a rotating bicycle wheel with cans of Strongbow and Thatchers cider attached.

The wheel, ingeniously repurposed, is connected to a makeshift system where cold water flows from a manually attached tap and pipe, continuously immersing the cans in a bucket of cold water.

On the opposite end of the rotating rod that keeps the bicycle wheel in motion, two joints of beef and a pork loin are attached, slowly cooking over an unseen heat source in a manner akin to a spit roast.

Meanwhile, the centrepiece of the barbecue is a steel filing cabinet with four drawers.

The bottom drawer serves as a coal storage to maintain a controlled fire, while the flames from the bottom drawer gradually roast golden potatoes, smothered in oil and wrapped in foil, placed in the drawers above.

The post received mixed responses from hundreds of social media users, with many viewers left impressed by the host's creativity and resourcefulness.

One person wrote, 'Actually genius though,' while another commented, 'You know that food is gonna be ten ten when it's cooked in a filing cabinet.'

A third said, 'Where's this guy's Nobel prize??!' while another wrote, 'Proud to be British man.'

However, not everyone was equally enthusiastic, with some users raising concerns over lengthy cooking times as well as safety measures, questioning the potential risks involved in using such improvised equipment for cooking.

One person wrote, 'Be ready in 3-5 working days,' while another quipped, 'Wow made a drawer smoker then fills it with veg.'

Another Instagram user wrote, 'Mmmmm aluminium oxide poisoning,' while a second said, 'All the toxins from the paint on that filing cabinet.'

Finally, a Netflix fan wrote: 'I was watching BBQ Showdown on Netflix and one of the challenges is using stuff like this to BBQ so it's actually very southern U.S. to do as well. I would recommend to watch.'

It comes after a study has shed light on exactly why it is that British men love their meat so much.

Researchers from the University of Zurich say that men eat more meat - and women less - in countries with greater equality between the sexes.
