TINY ROAD HAZARD CREATES CHAOS AS 20 MOTORISTS LOSE THEIR TYRES

A near invisible road hazard is creating chaos with sharp screws scattered over a busy city intersection causing around 20 tyre blowouts.

The sharp objects were scattered over the corner of Banfield and Dalrymple streets on Thursday morning in the Far North Queensland city of Townsville.

A civic-minded person posted a warning of the road hazard to Facebook.

'House roof screws everywhere,' they wrote.

One motorist said they had a flat tyre as a result of driving through the intersection.

'We have one screw in one tyre (thank god) but there was at least 20 cars that went thru there at 9:30 when we went thru,' they wrote.

Another was also unlucky enough to get a puncture.

'I scored a screw in my tyre,' one person wrote alongside a photo of their car jacked up with the wheel off.

'Thank you to "Good2Go Tyres and Repair, Mobile to you" for coming to Bunnings to fix my tyre.'

The bystander who shared the warning said Townsville City Council workers were clearing up the road.

'Advised by Council to do Insurance claim against Council,' they wrote.

'Though it is state responsibility TCC is doing the cleanup.'

A Queensalnd Police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia they had not received any complaints about the incident.

She said police would investigate who left the screws if a complaint was made.

Those commenting on Facebook were not impressed with whoever the anonymous culprit was.

'Ugg not a nice thing to happen hope who ever did it gets a fine,' one person wrote.

'Yeah and pay for new tyres for those who got a flat,' another comment said.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Townsville City Council for comment.
