Who they're for: Golfers who want a long-iron replacement that looks like a miniature fairway wood and blends distance with control (Elyte) or distance and extra forgiveness (Elyte X and Elyte Max Fast).
What you should know: Callaway is touting the Elyte hybrids to be the brand’s most versatile hybrids ever because they have a faster face that protects ball speed on mis-hits, along with moveable weights and an adjustable hosel to help fill distance gaps.
The deep dive: At the recreational level, hybrids forced 3-irons into retirement and they’ve put a lot of 4-irons on the bench. When properly fit, hybrids make it easier to gain distance and hit shots higher, and they are more forgiving than long irons. The key part of that, however, is getting a hybrid that is properly fit to match a player’s needs. With the release of the Elyte hybrids, Callaway believes it has a three-club family that can do all that for a wide variety of players.

Like the Elyte drivers and fairway woods, the Elyte hybrids have been designed with Callaway’s updated 10X face. Last season, Callaway fed "real player" data into its supercomputers and used artificial intelligence (AI) to create the face of its hybrids. For the Elyte hybrids, more "real golfer" data was used, allowing the AI to create 10 times more simulations to fine-tune the hitting area. Callaway said golfers can expect well-struck shots to fly high and far, and they will see better performance on mis-hits.
Each of the three Elyte hybrids features a lightweight carbon fiber crown that removes weight from the top of the head and helps lower the center of gravity, which should promote a higher ball flight and steeper descent.
All three Elyte hybrids also feature Callaway’s seven-setting OptiFit adjustable hosel that allows players and fitters to independently change the loft and lie angles of the clubs.
