DWAYNE JOHNSON AND CHRIS EVANS ARE LOOKING FOR SANTA IN RED ONE TRAILER

Ho-ho-hold onto your hats folks — it may only be June, but it’s never too soon to start getting in the festive spirit! Amazon MGM Studios have just dropped the first trailer for Jake Kasdan's (Jumanji) upcoming yuletide actioner Red One, which sees Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans opposite-sides-of-the-tracks security head and bounty hunter tasked with tracking down a missing Santa Claus — who just so happens to be played by a ripped J. K. Simmons (naturally). Check out the first trailer for the movie below:

Polar bear heavies! Snowmen throw downs! The Rock slapping Krampus! Miracle On 34th Street this most assuredly ain't. Rather, it looks like we're getting a big, adventurous, star-filled family Christmas blockbuster bolstered by Evans and Johnson's boundless charisma and some nifty looking action set-pieces, all wrapped up in an intriguing fantasy-inflected mystery. Here's the official synopsis: “After Santa Claus (Simmons) – Code Name: ‘Red One’ – is kidnapped, the North Pole’s Head of Security (Johnson) must team up with the world’s most infamous bounty hunter (Evans) in a globe-trotting, action-packed mission to save Christmas.”

Also along for the festive fisticuffs and fun are Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll and Wesley Kimmel. Red One is set to hit US cinemas on 15 November, with a UK release via Warner Bros. expected sometime in November too. As for whether the film will wind up being a Christmas cracker or a big ol' lump of blockbuster coal, only time will tell. But when you give us Maui and Captain America teaming up to find J. Jonah Jameson, you can guarantee that we will be seated — every day is Christmas Eve!
