THREE LANES BLOCKED ON NORTHWESTERN MOTORWAY, LONG DELAYS EXPECTED

Motorists are facing major delays on the Northwestern Motorway after a crash this morning.

All lanes have now reopened after three were blocked. Motorists are still being warned of delays, with backing up for nearly 10km.

The New Zealand Transport Agency said three right eastbound were blocked. They reopened at 7.55am.

“Allow extra time for your journey and expect long delays,” the agency said.

According to Google Maps, traffic is crawling for approximately 9.8km.

Earlier, another crash closed a portion of the motorway.

A right northbound lane was blocked on State Highway 1 just after the Ellerslie Panmure Highway.

The lane was closed for an hour before being reopened at 7.30am.
