TYRONE TO FACE TRIED-AND-TESTED ROSCOMMON SIDE IN WINNER-TAKES-ALL TUSSLE AT HEALY PARK

ROSCOMMON manager Davy Burke has kept faith with the side that beat Cavan last weekend for Saturday’s preliminary quarter-final against Tyrone at Healy Park (5pm).

After losses to Mayo and Dublin, the Rossies and Cavan went head-to-head for third spot in Group Two and Burke’s side came out with a 3-20 to 1-20 victory in a high-scoring affair at Pearse Park, Longford. Diarmuid Murtagh, Brian Stack and Enda Smith got the goals while Adam McDermott made his Championship debut when he came on to replace Murtagh and is named on the bench again for the weekend.

Tyrone recorded back-to-back wins for the first time in a year when they finished strongly to beat Cork in their round three finale. The Red Hands had lost their group opener against Donegal by seven points but they rallied impressively with a 14-point victory over Clare and a four-point win against the Rebels meant they finished second in the group and secured home advantage for Saturday’s knockout tussle.
